MeshCore // Pirkanmaa
MeshCore settings
Radio settings for Pirkanmaa MeshCore, plus the things that catch people out on the first day.
Practically every node in the EU and UK uses EU/UK Narrow, and so do we. There is nothing to enter by hand — choose it from the preset list.

Starting out
Run the Companion firmware as an ordinary Client. You do not need your own repeater to take part, and you should not build one until you know where the gaps are.
Move around with the node and find where you get acknowledgements from existing repeaters. That tells you far more about local coverage than any map, and it will tell you whether a repeater of your own would actually add anything.
Be patient with the node list
Clients do not repeat messages and do not advert automatically, and repeaters advert only once every 12 hours. Leave your node running for a full day before deciding the network is empty. You can advert manually, and we encourage it — put a rough location in your node info so people can see roughly where in Pirkanmaa you are.
Setting up a repeater
Check your key prefix first
The first two characters of your public key must not match another repeater's. Duplicate prefixes generate extra traffic and confuse message routing, and it is painful to fix after deployment. Ask on the channels before you put a repeater on the air and we will check the current list with you.
We map the network with MeshMapper, which is the quickest way to see what is already out there. Our own repeater map is being wired up.
